The upper dash may crack, most commonly on vehicles in warm climates and exposed to a lot of sunlight. The common repair is to replace the upper instrument trim panel. Information on a technical service bulletin or extended warranty is not available at this time.

Why would GMC not cover something like this if it is happening to so many people? This is a defect in GMC and the money we pay to have a nice car we should not have this happening. This is something that should not just happen and then we are responsible for!
Cracks in dash. Located near the passenger airbag and directly in front of the steering wheel.
2011 Denali should be nice vehicle longer for garage kept vehicle and price paid. GM knows this is common with number of reports and should support a fix and not as a cost to owner. For many years this has been a design flaw. QC should be embarrassed. This is another case where GM is not acting responsible. This would be another good class action litigation. I would join.
Crack in dashboard above instrument panel
HAVE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST.
Dashboard cracked to the right of the steering wheel just behind the hump of the instrument console. The crack has not been fixed yet.
It has not been fixed...it started with a small crack at the subwoofer speaker and spread all the way up toward the driver instrument panel. GMC should recognize this as a defect in this vehicle along with the cheap door handles that break and come off the vehicle as well.New update called GMC recall center and told them about everyone online having problems with this and a possible class action lawsuit they are now paying for me to bring my vehicle in to be checked if they get bombarded with all of us pulling together we can get them to issue a recall.Everyone affected by this problem should start calling them and don't stop until they address this. I will update everyone as it all plays out.I am at dealership now and since it is the GMC dealership they are trying to brush it off..I am suppose to call the GMC recall center when I get home to update them of the dealerships findings concerning my dash. I am ready to start a class action suit. If all of you that have this problem would email me with your name and contact info and spread the word on other sites concerning this... I will contact and get a lawyer to handle our case and make GMC stand behind their very expensive product that they are not backing. Dealer quoted 499 dollars for labor alone.! Has not priced dams itself. Not covered by extended warranty per service person because warranty does not cover trim. What a sham
Cracks near airbag and directly in front of steering column
dashed cracked and started rattling at around 56000 miles,no doubt this is a flaw in the dash of these vehicles. My yukon hybrid was in the high fifty thousand dollar range. I believe gm turned their back on their customers when this seems to be a real problem. I am willing to do a class action suit if we can get it started. This is exactly the kind of business that made them bankrupt. They wonder why americans want to buy foreign, go figure.
Upper dash instrument trim panel at end of dome for instrument cluster cracked in three places. Contacted GMC who said they don't have this problem VERIFIED by certified auto dealership as a material defect for a design flaw. They said they would review my case after the dealership makes its determination.
I am taking my in 12/16/2014 to have it verified.
You see the problem, if the dealership wants to stay a GMC dealership they cannot find a material or design flaw against GMC. If they do they want be a GMC dealership very long.
Catch 22, pay $65,000 for a piece of crap and GMC gets you tax dollars to keep it in business for selling you a piece of crap.

My vehicle has a crack in the upper dash exactly as described in article. I find it absurd that the maker has cheapened this so called higher end model to plastic vinyl. I feel the maker should have to repair all the vehicles with this problem.
