On October 6, 2017, Subaru recalled 9,178 Subaru WRX. Subaru of america, inc. (subaru) is recalling certain 2015 wrx and wrx/sti vehicles, equipped with an optional factory-installed subwoofer in the trunk. items in the trunk may cause the subwoofer wiring to contact the subwoofer metal frame, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

The wiring for the factory equipped subwoofer may contact the subwoofer metal frame, resulting in an electrical short and a chance of fire.

Recall repairs on your Subaru must be performed by a Subaru dealership. Subaru will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in October, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Subaru dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Subaru recall number is WTQ-76.

The engine may stall while driving due to a possible crack in the turbocharger air intake duct. This would increase the risk of a crash.

Subaru will notify owners of affected vehicles (a timeline of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them.
