I have a 2008 smart fortwo with 90,000+ miles it overheated and turned off. My wife kept trying to start it. Now it cranks on position 1 instead of position 2 on the ignition switch. When the car starts the starter keeps cranking. I have to turn the key off in order for it to stop. I replaced the ignition switch and checked starter it still does the same thing. It sounds like the starter relay messed up but don't have a clue where it is in this car.
