Lexus GS300 Problems

Excess Engine Oil Consumption on Lexus GS300

Problem Description and Possible Solution

Sludge can build up in the engine because Lexus did not recommend frequent enough oil changes. Lexus will sometimes offer a discount on cleaning the engine if necessary. Owners who changed their oil every 3,000 miles did not experience these problems. This sludge build up can lead to excessive oil consumption.

Excessive oil consumption requiring me to add about a quart of oil every 2 -4 weeks
3,000 - 4,000 miles After an oil change, the low engine oil light turns on. Now it's as if I have a leak. Need to take the car in for inspection.
It has not been fixed as of yet. Took it to the repair shop a few months ago and tech stated that the oil he took out of the car looked as if it was in there for years, and said that it came out pitch black and gummy. Keep in mind I just had the oil changed 2500 miles ago and at that 2500 mile mark I had to put 3 quarts in to keep it at normal level. The only options my tech gave me were to rebuild the engine or buy a used one from him which he would charge me $4500 for including the install. I only paid $5700 for the car used with 160000 miles on it.
