Coolant Hoses May Fail Unexpectedly on Mercedes-Benz E420

The cooling system hoses may fail unexpectedly. The hoses can look good on the outside, but the rubber can degrade and erode on the inside. If not carefully checked, the hoses can burst at any time.

Small leak at first and after about a week it was huge. I could just BARELY see it was at the back right of the engine and when it first started i noticed steam coming out right in front of the windshield and then a warning minutes later. Was called a Y heater hose I believe and cost about 350 to fix then it put pressure on the rest of the coolant system and caused what was once a small water pump leak into a pretty big one and that's about to cost around $680 and if I get the water pump myself which is around $50 the repair will be around $450 (wish it was 420:(

I used water for about a month ever few miles when I absolutely needed to drive it cause I'm broke as fizzzuuuukkk. Oh and now it's stuck in 2nd gear and I think it's cause the tranny fluid but we'll see... I'll be back.
