My fuel pump was replaced three years ago in July of 2011, due to a stalling problem! My 2003 Chevy Cavalier is stalling again! It only stalls when I slow down and when it is hot. It does this every year in the Summer! I have had everything looked at cleaned and repaired last year in 2013. It looks like we will have to do the same thing this year. I have two small children and it is very unsafe! I guess I will be shopping for a new vehicle!
2005 chevy cavalier smells like gas in my car when heat is on not when heat is off and when car is sitting smells of gas real bad in the front of the car do not see any leaks
Car stalls at any given point of time. Driving on the freeway or just down the road, stalls. Sometimes it cranks up and sometimes it doesn't at all. When it does, it's only for a few seconds and sounds terrible, coughs and dies. Someone told me to bang on the gas tank a couple of times and to my suprize, it worked. I believe the fuel pump is going out.
Car was running fine , got $5 in gas and parked car 2 hours later it would not start
My car completely shut off and steering wheel locked up while going 70 mph on the freeway. Thankfully not too many cars on the road at the time and was able to force the wheel to the right and park the car on the shoulder. Had to have it towed to a shop where the had to replace the fuel pump. Not cheap and i lost a full tank of gas on top of it! Can't believe there hasn't been a recall on this. I've seen a lot of similar complaints
Daughters car. She was driving to Colorado to start college. She first lost accelerator control and dropped speed. She pulled over and her brakes locked up. We bought a fuel pump/fuel filter combo. Dropped the tank. Cleaned out and replaced parts including o rings. Cost was about $400 and six hours due to the car broke down about 75 miles from our home and we had to tow it.
Not happy and not fun but mechanic wanted $700 and three days...we had $700 but only the weekend to get her there to start her job before college starts.
fuel pump whines very loud. car will turn over and sometimes run for a few seconds, but stall everytime. when it does start for a few seconds, it sounds horrible and chugs and shakes the whole motor. just replaced the fuel filter and still did not help. gas is going up to the fuel filter so that must mean the pump isnt shot right?
Car was running great no problems. turned off the car and tried to start but you could tell it was not getting enough gas. like the car was choking. took it in $700.00 later I had to replace the entire gas system
Was driving & car just quit. Started losing speed & I noticed all dash/warning lights on. Luckily I was close enough to gas station to push it in parking lot. Just to buy fuel pump (not installed) was over $300!! Many more problems since :-(
My fuel pump just failed while sitting at a grocery store. Thank goodness it was there and not on the road. Fuel pump cost me $195 and labor $265. The fuel filter is $15 I think. Good idea to have the filter replaced every 30,000 miles. I didn't and now I'm out almost $500.
driving down the road and the car stalled , restarted one time but died immediately and would not restart, the next day we were told to hit the gas tank a couple of times to loosen any residue on the brushes in the fuel pump , we did this and the car started.
