When the vehicle is not in "Park" and the ignition is shut off, the vehicle could move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway and crash.
When the vehicle is shut off with the transmission shift lever engaged in a gear that is not "park", a warning alerts the driver that shifting to "park" gear is needed. In affected vehicles, this message does not alert drivers, which can lead to the transmission not being shifted into "park" gear and the vehicle rolling away. This increases the risk oof an accident.
You must visit a Nissan dealership to perform recall repairs on your Nissan vehicle. The schedule for Nissan to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during January, 2025. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Nissan dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Nissan recall designation is PMA42.
