An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.
The occupant detection system that is located in the seat cushion of the passenger front seat is designed to deactivate the passenger frontal air bag in an effort to prevent injury to light weight passengers such as children who may occupy the passenger front seat. In affected vehicles, the weight sensor in the seat cushion that feeds information to this system may crack and short circuit, causing it to fail to operate the system properly. This creates an increased risk of injury to passenger front seat occupants in an accident.
You must contact and visit a Honda or Acura dealership to perform recall repairs on your Honda or Acura vehicle, respectively. The schedule for Honda to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during March, 2024. If you wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Honda or Acura dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Honda and Acura recall designations are XHP and VHQ.
