A defective battery disconnect may not isolate the vehicle's high voltage battery after a crash or fault detection, increasing the risk of electrical shock and injury.
If there is a vehicle accident, there is a safety feature that isolates the vehicle's high voltage battery to prevent further injury or electric shock. On affected vehicles, this pyrotechnic battery disconnect may be defective, allowing for the risk of electric shock and injury to occupants after an accident.
You must contact and visit a Tesla Service Facility to perform recall repairs on your Tesla vehicle. August, 2023 is the date of initial notification of owners by Tesla. If not notified, you can check to see if your vehicle is included in this or any other recall by contacting one of your local Tesla Service Facilities, or by calling 1-877-798-3752. Be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service consultant you speak with. The Tesla recall designation is SB-23-16-005.
