Corrosion of the electrical components could result in failure of various electrical systems, such as loss of wiper motor function or exterior lighting, inoperative air bags, or the ability to shift into gear without applying the brake pedal. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short-circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire.
Water may leak inside the vehicle and get on electrical components, corroding them and causing electrical shorts. This can create failures of important components such as windshield wiper function, exterior lighting, restraint devices such as air bags, and the ability to shift into gear from the "park" position. All increases risk of accident and injury.
You must visit a Nissan dealership to perform recall repairs on your Nissan vehicle. The schedule for Nissan to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during July, 2023. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Nissan dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
