A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. A loss of park function can cause an unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
The power transfer unit which provides power to all the wheels as needed may become damaged and disengage the transmission, resulting in a loss of drive power. It can also result in the loss of the "park" function of the transmission, securing the vehicle when parked. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, and the loss of park function can allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing risk of injury or a crash.
You must contact and visit a Jeep dealership to perform recall repairs on your Jeep vehicle. The schedule for Jeep to contact known owners of affected vehicles is unknown as of the time of this writing, but expected to be in late Spring, 2023. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Jeep dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Jeep recall designation is 45A.
