Electrical & Lights
An unintentional brake light illumination can fail to alert other motorists of actual brake application. A vehicle that shifts out of the park position unexpectedly can allow the vehicle to rollaway. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
The brake light switch may be misadjusted, allowing the brake lights to be illuminated when not braking, and allowing the shift lever to be moved from the park position when the driver's foot is not on the brake pedal. Brake lights on when not braking can mislead other drivers, and being able to shift out of the park position when the brakes are not engaged can allow the vehicle to roll away. Both situations increase risk of an accident.
You must contact and visit a Subaru dealership to perform recall repairs on your Subaru vehicle. The schedule for Subaru to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during June, 2023. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Subaru dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Subaru recall designation is WRI-23.
