A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
The power steering assist may stop working when driving on rough roads. This increases steering effort and as a result also the risk of a crash.
This recall can be resolved via an "Over The Air" (OTA) software update, provided by Tesla, without the need for visiting a service facility. Tesla will notify known owners of affected vehicles in December, 2022. This notice will explain the software update, and provide direction. If you did not receive a notification and would like more information, or would like to see if your vehicle is affected by this recall, you can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Be sure to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) available for the agent to review. Tesla will also check for any other open recalls you may have missed. The Tesla recall designation is SB-22-00-014.
