The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) of the brake system may have brake fluid leak inside of it which can cause an electrical short. This would cause a fire hazard while the vehicle is parked or while driving.

Park outside and away from other vehicles and structures until repairs are completed for this recall, due to the fire hazard that is present. Recall repairs on your Kia must be performed by a Kia dealership. Kia will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July 2021. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Kia dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle.
