The anti-lock brake system (ABS) module may allow moisture inside, resulting in the risk of an electrical short which can cause a fire in the engine compartment. Dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off free of charge to resolve the concern.
