The front wheel bearings may have been improperly machined, resulting in excessive stress on vehicle wheels, wheel bolts and wheel bearings. This can cause components to fracture and a loss of vehicle control which can result in a crash. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to not drive their vehicles until repairs have been made.

Recall repairs on your Volkswagen must be performed by a Volkswagen dealership. Volkswagen will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Volkswagen dealerships. How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
