Recall 19V343000

Passenger Frontal Air Bag Does Not Deploy Properly In An Accident

Recall Details

The occupant classification system may improperly identify an occupant in the passenger front seat as a child instead of an adult, preventing proper deployment of the passenger frontal air bag in the event of an accident. The manufacturer is still developing a remedy for this concern at this time, and when it is ready, dealers will complete repairs free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The occupant classification system which determines if there is an adult or child passenger occupying the passenger front seat may not function properly, and may sometimes classify an adult as a child. If this happens, the passenger frontal air bag may not deploy as needed in an accident, increasing risk of injury.
