Recall 18V887000

Air Bags Do Not Deploy As Intended In An Accident

Recall Details

A seat belt tension sensor wiring harness may separate, causing loss of power in the air bag system circuit, resulting in the passenger frontal air bag, knee air bag, and side impact air bag not functioning as needed in an accident. Toyota is still developing a remedy which when available will be performed at no charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The passenger frontal air bag, knee air bag and passenger seat mounted side air bag may not deploy as needed in an accident due to a wiring harness that breaks, creating an open circuit. If the air bags do not deploy as needed, risk of occupant injury is increased.
