The air bag system has a control unit that always checks the air bag system to ensure there are no components that have faults in them each time the vehicle is started. At times, this control unit may erroneously detect a fault during this check, shutting the air bag system down. As a result, the vehicle air bags may not deploy as needed in an accident, increasing risk of occupant injury.

Recall repairs on your Toyota must be performed by a Toyota dealership. Toyota will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in October, 2018.
