Recall 18V667000

Power Steering Assist Fails

Recall Details

A plastic portion of the power steering belt tensioner pulley may break and separate from the pulley, displacing the belt and causing a loss of power steering functionality. Dealers will replace the power steering pump drive belt tensioner pulley free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The power steering pump tensioner pulley which secures the drive belt to drive the power steering pump may fracture, allowing broken pieces of the plastic portion of the tensioner to get caught between the pulley and the belt. If this happens, the belt may come off, and power steering assist would fail. Loss of steering assist can lead to an accident.
