Drive Train
If the halfshaft bearing cage breaks, the halfshaft may not be able to transmit engine power, causing a loss of drive or it can allow the vehicle to move while in the "Park" position. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
The front from drive axle shaft may not have been manufactured properly, and as a result may fracture, causing a lack of ability to transmit engine power to the wheels. This could also result in not keeping the vehicle secure when in the "Park" gear, allowing the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly. This could cause an accident.
Recall repairs on your Jeep must be performed by a Jeep dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in September, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Jeep dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is U78.
