Corrosion Causes Fuel Tank Strap Frame To Break Allowing Fuel Tank To Drop

Recall Details

For vehicles exposed to cold weather environments and road salt, excessive corrosion may cause the front fuel tank strap frame "t-slot" bracket to fail and allow the fuel tank to drop to the ground. Dealers will bolt a bracket reinforcement to the frame free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

For vehicles subject to adverse environmental conditions in cold weather states, the front fuel tank strap frame "t-slot" bracket may corrode and allow the fuel tank to drop to the ground. This could result in a fuel leak, loss of vehicle operation and possibly a crash.
