Recall 18V137000
Air Bags And Seat Belt Pretensioners Fail To Deploy In An Accident
Recall Details
The frontal and side air bags and seat belt pretensioners may not deploy as needed in an accident due to a short circuit of the air bag control module. The manufacturer is still developing a resolution to this concern at the time of this writing, but will release a repair procedure for dealers to make necessary repairs free of charge to resolve the concern.
Our Quick Take
During an accident the frontal or side air bags of the vehicle as well as the seat belt pretensioners may not deploy as needed, due to a short circuit that occurs in the air bag control unit. If protective devices do not deploy as needed, the risk of occupant injury increases.
