Recall 17V601000

Tire, Rim, Spare and Vehicle Information Data Inaccurate On Placard Label

Recall Details

The tire placard on the drivers door opening may indicate improper tire and wheel sizes, inflation pressures, load capacity of the vehicle and lack information about the equipped spare tire. Dealers will replace the incorrect tire placard with a corrected one free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The information regarding power wheel and tire size, air pressure, and vehicle weight capacity as well as spare tire information may be inaccurate on the tire placard, located on the drivers door jam area. This can lead to improper loading of the vehicle, resulting in an accident.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ram truck must be performed by a Ram dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ram dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is T62.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 RAM ProMaster City vehicles. These vehicles have incorrect information on the tire placard including incorrect vehicle capacity weight, total number of occupants, tire pressure and/or "None" designation for the spare tire size when a full size spare tire is present. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Consequence
The incorrect tire placard can cause the operator to exceed the vehicle's weight capacity, or inflate the tires to an incorrect pressure, affecting vehicle handling, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect tire placard with a corrected one, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 15, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T62.
Notify
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
