Fuel Filter Flange Leaks Fuel

Recall Details

The fuel filter flange may crank and leak fuel, on vehicles equipped with gasoline powered engines. Dealers will inspect the fuel filter flange for cracks and replace the flange if cranks are found. If no cracks are found, a protective cover will be installed onto the filter flange. All repairs and inspections will be done free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Volkswagen must be performed by a Volkswagen dealership. Volkswagen will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2004-2007 Touareg vehicles. These gasoline-powered vehicles have a fuel filter flange that may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Consequence
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel filter flange for cracks, replacing the flange if cracks are found. If no cracks are found, a protective cover will be installed onto the filter flange. These repairs will be performed free of charge. Parts are not currently available, but owners will be notified of the recall beginning November 19, 2017. A second notice will be sent when remedy parts become available.
