Knee Air Bag Loosens From Instrument Panel Reducing Driver Protection In An Accident

Recall Details

The fasteners for the driver's knee air bag may loosen from the instrument panel, resulting in the air bag not being as effective as designed in protecting the driver. Dealers will inspect and replace improper fastening bolts free of charge to resolve the concern. According to Toyota, all affected vehicles have been inspected as of the time of this writing.

Our Quick Take

The knee air bag that protects the driver during an accident may loosen from the instrument panel, reducing the amount of protection that the air bag would provide. This would increase risk of driver injury in an accident.
