Wheels Separate From Vehicle Because Lug Nuts Crack And Detach

Recall Details

The lug nuts equipped on vehicles with accessory 20-inch Rockstar wheels could crack and detach from the vehicle, allowing the wheels to separate from the vehicle. Dealers will install new replacement lug nuts free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Toyota must be performed by a Toyota dealership. Southeast Toyota Distributors will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Toyota dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2013-2017 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia vehicles accessorized with Southeast Toyota accessory 20-inch Rockstar wheels installed by Southeast Toyota or a Southeast Toyota dealer. The Rockstar wheels were installed with lugnuts that may crack and detach.
Lugnuts that crack and detach may cause the wheels to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
SET will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement lugnuts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 23, 2017. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET's number for this recall is SET17A.
