Replacement Engines Built With Incorrect Pistons

Recall Details

For replacement engines service installed in vehicles, the pistons in the replacement engine may be incorrect. This can cause a performance issue. Dealers will inspect the engines and replace the incorrect components as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

For vehicles that have had the original engine replaced with a service replacement engine assembly, the replacement engine may have been built with the wrong pistons, resulting in reduced engine performance or an engine that stalls. This could result in a safety issue.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Honda must be performed by a Honda dealership. Honda will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Honda dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
