Spare Tire Pressure Not Inflated Properly

Recall Details

The spare tire was not inflated properly when supplied with the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the spare tire, adjusting their pressure as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The spare tire equipped with the vehicle was not inflated to the proper air pressure specification as listed on the tire pressure label. This could result in the tire not being ready to perform as needed when installed, causing a safety issue.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Toyota must be performed by a Toyota dealership. Toyota will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Toyota dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. Summary
Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (Gulf States) is recalling certain 2017 4Runner , 86, Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla iM, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius C, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Sienna and Yaris vehicles. The spare tire air pressure was not adjusted to the proper pressure as stated on the Tire Pressure Label.
Consequence
A spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Gulf States will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the spare tires, adjusting their pressure as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 1, 2017. Owners may contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074. Toyota's number for this recall is 17R2.
