If the knee guard is not properly attached and the driver is not wearing a seatbelt, the knee guard may not be able to properly restrain the driver's lower body in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The knee guard that protects the driver in an accident may not be properly mounted. Dealers will inspect the knee guard welding on each vehicle's steering beam, replacing the beam as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Subaru must be performed by a Subaru dealership. Subaru will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Subaru dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
