If the windshield wiper motor overheats, the wipers may fail, reducing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the wiper motor cover may melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
The components within the windshield wiper motor bottom cover may interfere with each other due to contamination. This can cause the motor to overheat, fail to operate and result in a fire hazard. Dealers will replace the windshield wiper motor bottom cover assembly free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Subaru must be performed by a Subaru dealership. Subaru will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Subaru dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
