A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
If the airbag system is in a diagnostic test mode during a crash, the deployment of the frontal airbags and seat belt pretensioners will not occur. Dealers will reflash the system software. In the event the vehicle has had a previous airbag deployment, the airbag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will be replaced. All these remedies will be performed free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your General Motors vehicle must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable for this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The General Motors recall number is 16007.
