Corrosion of one or both of the rear lift gate support stays could cause a sudden release of pressure. If this occurs, the support stays may break off, increasing the risk of injury.
The lift gate support stays may corrode due to a lack of sufficient anti-corrosion treatment. This could cause the support stays to break, and the lift gate to fall from an open position. Dealers will replace the rear lift gate stays free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recalls on your Nissan must be performed by a Nissan dealership. Nissan will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles in June, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Nissan dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
