Starter Wiring Harness Short Circuits On Heat Shield

Recall Details

The wiring harness to the starter motor may short circuit on a heat shield. Dealers will inspect and adjust the position of the starter motor wiring harness free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Nissan must be performed by a Nissan dealership. Nissan will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Nissan dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. Summary
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016 Frontier V6 vehicles manufactured February 29, 2016, to March 7, 2016. The starter motor wire harness may have been installed in an incorrect position, allowing the starter harness terminal to contact the heat shield and result in an electrical short.
Consequence
An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and reposition the starter wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
