Recall 16V170000

Brake Pedal Separates

Recall Details

The brake pedal pivot pin may become dislodged, resulting in the brake pedal separating from the pedal arm. Dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly clip and install a replacement clip if one is missing free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The pin that secures the brake pedal may separate, resulting in the brake pedal becoming dislodged, and preventing the brakes from being applied. This would result in the increased risk of an accident.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Volkswagen must be performed by a Volkswagen dealership. Volkswagen will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable for this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Volkswagen dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
