Pulley Bolt Fails Resulting In Loss Of Power Steering Assist

Recall Details

A bolt securing the front end auxiliary drive idler pulley on the engine may fail, resulting in the loss of steering assist. Dealers will replace the pulley assembly free of charge to resolve the concern.

The idler pulley guides the belt that drives under hood accessories, such as the power steering pump. A bolt securing this pulley may fail, resulting in among other things the loss of power steering assist. This would cause difficulty steering the vehicle, and could result in an accident.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your Jaguar must be performed by a Jaguar dealership. Jaguar will begin notifying known owners of affected vehicles beginning in May, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Jaguar dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Jaguar XF vehicles manufactured May 16, 2012, to June 15, 2015 and equipped with 2.0L GTDi engines. The retaining bolt for the Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) idler pulley on the engine may fail resulting in a loss of power steering assist.
A loss of power steering assist may increase the risk of a crash.
Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the FEAD pulley assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 2, 2016. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J061.
