Engine Stalls Without Warning

Recall Details

For vehicles equipped with the 6.7 liter Cummins Diesel engine, the engine control module (ECM) may develop a short circuit, resulting in the engine stalling unexpectedly. Dealers will replace the ECM free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ram truck must be performed by a Ram dealership. Chrysler notified known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2015. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ram dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is R52.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Ram 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis and 4500/5500 Cab Chassis trucks manufactured July 31, 2015, to August 13, 2015 and equipped with a 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine. In the affected vehicles, the Engine Control Module (ECM) may short circuit, causing the engine to stall without warning.
Consequence
An engine that stalls without warning increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ECM, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 6, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R52.
