A seat belt that does not properly latch would not restrain a user, increasing their risk of injury in the event of a crash. A seat belt that does not properly unlatch when the release button is pressed may prevent the occupant from quickly exiting the vehicle in a emergency, such as after a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
The front seat belt buckles may malfunction and not latch or unlatch properly. Dealers will inspect and replace front buckles as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.
Nissan will notify owners of affected vehicles starting in October 2015. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them.
