Drive Train
If the ODS deactivates, the front passenger air bag will be turned off and the front passenger air bag will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
The occupant detection system that deactivates the passenger air bag may malfunction, resulting in the air bag being shut off unintentionally. This may occur when using an accessory plugged into the power outlet. Dealers will replace the occupant control unit free of charge to resolve the concern.
Subaru will notify owners of affected vehicles (a timeline of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The Subaru recall number is WQT-55.
