The leaking engine oil can drip onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold, increasing the risk of a fire.
Engine oil may leak from the valve cover area, which can cause a burning odor and increase risk of fire. Dealers will replace the spark plug wire retainer to redirect the dripping oil on affected vehicles, and will replace the left valve cover gasket on vehicles with the 3.8L V6 supercharged engine.
General Motors will notify customers of affected vehicles. You can also contact your dealership to see if your vehicle is affected. The dealership may ask for your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), so please have that on hand when you contact them. The dealership will repair the oil leaks associated with the valve cover gasket. The General Motors recall number is 14574.
