If the PTS switch is inadvertently pressed, the vehicle may stop unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. In the event of a crash with the vehicle turned off, the air bags and seat belt restaints may not function as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
The Push-to Start/Stop button may be pushed inadvertently causing the engine and vehicle to turn off unexpectedly and the vehicle to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. If a crash were to occur with the vehicle off the airbags and seatbelt restraints may not function as intended, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will relocate the Push-to Start/Stop button and reprogram the Powertrain Control Module to correct this concern.
Ford will notify owners beginning February 23, 2015. If you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Ford recall number is 14S29.
