If the left axle shaft separates from the transaxle, the vehicle may stop moving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a separated axle shaft may allow the vehicle to roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
208 vehicles are being recalled because the may have been assembled with an incorrect left drive axle. This could result in separation of the left axle from the transaxle differential. If this were to occur the vehicle would stop moving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the vehicle could roll unexpectedly while parked. Dealers will inspect the left drive axle and replace it as necessary.
As of this writing Hyundai has not released a notification schedule for this recall. If you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Hyundai recall number is 126.
