Moisture sensitive airbag system components may deteriorate in humid climate regions, causing an increase in inflator pressure which ruptures when passenger airbags are deployed. Injury can result from inflator parts striking an occupant. Dealers will replace affected airbag inflators to correct this concern. Subaru is the manufacturer of Saabs affected by this recall. This recall supersedes Subaru recall 14V-471.
This recall schedule has not yet been announced, designated repairs will be performed free of charge by each vehicle's respective dealer. If your car is located in a region with high humidity, or you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. Subaru's number for this recall is WQP-51.
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passengers frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
