A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
The module that operates the power window and lock switches can allow moisture in, causing corrosion that can lead to a short circuit. This results in window and lock functions not working, and creates a fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace affected modules free of charge to resolve the concern.
General Motors notified owners of affected vehicles starting in August 2014. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The General Motors recall number is 14309.
