In the event of a crash, a seat belt that has not retracted may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing their risk of injury.
The seat belt retractor for the driver's front seat may break, resulting in the belt not retracting properly and securing the occupant. Dealers will replace the driver's front seat belt retractor free of charge to resolve the problem.
General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles (a timeline of this notification is unavailable as of the time of this writing). You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The General Motors recall number is 14222.
