Headliner Support Bracket Comes Loose During Side Curtain Air Bag Deployment

Recall Details

On Touring models, the side curtain air bags may cause a support bracket for the headliner to become dislodged upon deployment, risking injury to passengers. Dealers will apply adhesive strips to the headliners free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recalls on your Hyundai must be performed by a Hyundai dealership. Hyundai notified owners of affected vehicles in July, 2014. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Hyundai dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. Summary
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Elantra Touring vehicles manufactured December 15, 2009, through May 7, 2012. The affected vehicles have a support bracket attached to the headliner that may become displaced during a side curtain airbag deployment.
Consequence
If the headliner support bracket makes contact with an occupant during a crash, it may cause a laceration injury.
Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will apply adhesive strips to the headliner, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2014. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 117.
