If the occupant is incorrectly classified, in the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, the airbag may deploy with greater or lesser force than appropriate, resulting in an increased risk of injury.
The passenger airbag system on late model vehicles is designed to properly classify the type of passenger occupying the passenger seat. Possibilities include an adult, child, or child safety seat. These vehicles are being recalled because the passenger seat occupant may not be correctly classified by the airbag system. As a result the passenger airbag could deploy with a force inappropriate for the passenger seat occupant, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will recalibrate the airbag system to correct this concern.
Hyundai will notify owners of affected Azera models. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Hyundai recall number is 111.
