Brakes
With reduced braking assistance, the vehicle may require additional brake pedal force to prevent a lengthened stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.
The braking system uses an assist device called a brake booster. These vehicles use a brake booster that is operated by engine vacuum and in certain cases the booster may not be able to maintain a vacuum when the brake pedal is depressed. This will result in reduced braking assistance, requiring additional force on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the brake booster and replace it as necessary.
Honda will notify owners of the affected vehicles beginning July 12, 2013. If you are experiencing problems with the brake system, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Honda recall number is JA4. The Acura recall number is JA5.
