The gas-filled struts that help to raise and support the power liftgate may fail prematurely due to a manufacturing flaw. The flaw can result in leakage of the pressurized gas, leading to reduced strut performance. Unexpected closure of the liftgate may occur due to the failed struts, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace both lift gate gas struts to correct this concern. The Honda recall number is S22.
