For vehicles in Puerto Rico, the stop lamp switch may fail to operate. This would cause the brake lights to fail to illuminate and prevent proper operation of the brake to transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the vehicle from being shifted out of the "park" position. A faulty stop lamp switch may affect proper cruise control system deactivation. These malfunctions could lead to an accident.
You must contact and visit a Hyundai dealership to perform recall repairs on your Hyundai vehicle. The schedule for Hyundai to initially contact known owners of affected vehicles was during September, 2009. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Hyundai dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Hyundai recall designation is 91B026.
